I've grown up in the same place. However, I believe it is true when they say we do look at things differently according to our age.

I sometimes find myself contemplating a "new" street or building I've never really paid much attention to before. I guess that's what happened with this abandoned school in my hometown. It's been left behind for so many years, since a new school was built elsewhere. And this is not just a random school, it was my mom's school in fact. That's when it gets even more special.

The school is situated in a very old and degraded neighborhood with very few people living there nowadays. In fact, it had been announced that the school building and some houses surrounding would be taken down or rebuilt in the near future. That's when I knew that if I wanted to shoot here, I'd better hurry up.

My mom actually dropped us there and decided to come in with us to see how the place she once had classes in, looked now. She told us which of those was her classroom and we easily got this strange sense of time passing through us.

The school was big, with a second floor. Wherever we looked at, there was the same beautiful and happy tone of vivid blue on the walls and doors, almost as intact as when there were children running through them everyday.

We sure had a blast as usual - and even got time to do some exercise. Who needs weights when you have, for instance, free window blinds to move out of the frame...

The whole neighborhood is currently under reconstruction. I guess I get a mixture of pitty and curiosity. The road that leads to the school has indeed been closed for months now. Hopefully some time soon I'll find out its destiny.
